POPULATION STUDIES PROGRAM

The BEBR Population Program produces Florida’s official city, county, and state population estimates each year. It also develops estimates of the number of households and average household size; projections of total population; and population projections by age, sex, race and Hispanic origin for the state and each county. These estimates and projections are used for a wide variety of planning, budgeting, and analytical purposes by state and local government agencies, businesses, research analysts, the media, and members of the general public.

Staff members conduct research on the accuracy of population estimates and projections, the components of population change, and a variety of other demographic topics. Our consulting team includes experts with knowledge in population estimation and forecasting, demographic analysis, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related technologies. BEBR Population Program staff have over 25 years of experience in conducting demographic research and in providing GIS and planning services. By developing client-centric analyses, databases, and software tools, we ensure that our clients get reliable services and products efficiently and cost-effectively.
